The Unquiet aligns three temporally separate but spatially proximate sonic events that unwind along the Danube from Vienna to just south of Bratislava; Algernon Blackwood's novella, The Willows (1907), the Occupation of the Hainburg Au (1984), a national protest against the construction of a hydro-electriic dam credited as being the birth of the Austrian environmental movement, and the satellite surveillance station, Königswarte (present), a lookout tower on Hindelberg Mountain where emperors would scan their marshalled armies, later a Cold War listening station and presently identified in Edward Snowdon's classified documents as a site where the Austrian Army and US National Security Agency would monitor private mobile phone calls.
